It’s a brave,
new world out there. The way we
interact, make money, disperse information, and entertain each other is always
evolving. There are pros and cons to that. One of the positives is this: the
internet provides all sorts of opportunities to get our name out there. You don’t
have to follow your grandmother’s route of being in the same type of 9-5 job
for decades.
The sky is
the limit. Today’s entrepreneur can create their own jobs in any environment. Even within the
entertainment business, different generations and personalities have learned to
come together. They make their own kind of mark in the world. These special
people realize that they don’t need to limit themselves, or judge others who may not initially follow their same path.
The Piano Guys
These five
young Americans have made their name through YouTube, the latest craze in entertainment. Their mix of popular
and classical videos receives up to 20 million views. The Piano Guys have 4
million subscribers. They were voted “The Most Up-and-Coming” channel. The
group has multiple listings on the Billboard
magazine charts. Sony signed them.
Placido Domingo
This Spanish
opera singer, born in 1941, is a legend. His performances are more “traditional”.
He has recorded over 100 traditional operas. He performs in six different
languages. Placido Domingo has entertained at some of the most prestigious
opera houses in the world. He has also starred in many movie operas. Oh, by the
way, he was one of the “Three Tenors”, along with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose
Carreras.
Please watch
this 4-minute video of “Silent Night” to see how these two legendary groups
work together. One marches to a traditional drum, and the other group follows a
more modern beat.
My Conclusion
Jesus’
disciples weren’t all the same, and neither are we. Our jobs, social status, and
financial situations may differ. That’s okay. We can all contribute to society even if we can march to our own
drummer.
Do you keep
your own beat?
