Hope: the Power to Move Forward

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”-- Romans 15:13 (KJV)

Last week’s article was on the subject of how God strengthens us here. I can’t think of a more empowering topic. Today’s writing will delve deeper into the topic of hope. This message is especially for those of us who are trying to climb out of a pit of darkness.

Quotes from The Power of Your Attitude, by Stan Toler (Italics added.)

Hope is…
A choice you make based on your foundational belief about the nature of the world.
An emotion you feel that enables you to persevere.
A gift you give to others who are suffering.
A source of strength.
  What is Hope?

“Hope is faith in the future. A belief that the future will be brighter than the past, that good really is stronger than evil.”
******************************
“To have real hope is to be hopeful even when things appear to be hopeless; otherwise, it’s not hope at all.”
******************************
“Hopeful people see possibilities in every situation, no matter how bleak.”

  Why Should we Hope?

“Hope is tremendously empowering.”
******************************
“When you lose hope, you lose your reason to continue fighting.”
******************************
“Without hope you’ll not only fail to achieve your full potential; you’ll also doom yourself to unhappiness, failure, and perhaps even tragic results.”
******************************
“Everything that is done in the world is done by hope.”

Mysteries at the Museum (a Travel Channel documentary series)

This TV show is a prime example of how hope fulfills dreams against all odds. I am uplifted by each episode. Cases emphasize the following outcomes:
  • Last-minute rescues
  • Scientific “failures” that evolve into discoveries used worldwide
  • Medical breakthroughs
  • Military victories
  • Sports triumphs
  • Financial successes

My Conclusion

The story of your life isn’t done, yet. If you’re trying to do something that has never been done before, you’re in good company: inventors, scientists, and every other individual who breaks barriers. Knowledge and information are continually evolving.

Quotes taken from Goodreads

“It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.”― Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl
******************************
“I like the night. Without the dark, we'd never see the stars.”― Stephenie Meyer, Twilight
******************************
“Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird,
That cannot fly.”
― Langston Hughes
******************************
“Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”― Shel Silverstein

Please take the time to ponder these encouraging questions: Has your life been miraculously turned around at the last minute? How many times? When? How? Where?
