The Power of Grace

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”—2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

Many of us make plans for advancement. We have life all figured out. Some people map out their journey from point A all the way to point Z. This may include the following:
  • Timetables and deadlines
  • Education and certification
  • Beneficial business connections and social relationships
  • Overflowing finances
Sadly, that’s not always how circumstances fall into place. Reality often slams us with setbacks. Individuals might not have the resources to stumble forward even two steps.

The Necessity of Grace

What is the solution when we’re at the end of our power? Step out in faith. Trust in God. Here are two examples:

The Finest Hours
This uplifting movie was made in 2016. It is based on true events. A crew of four men in a small coast guard cutter (boat) rescued dozens of people off a sinking tanker in 1952.
The incident remains the most dramatic small-boat rescue in Coast Guard history. Rescuers had to fight unbelievable odds, including a dangerous storm. There’s no way they could have gotten through any step in the process without divine help.
MercyMe
This Contemporary Christian band is headed by Bart Millard. The singer underwent an amazing passage from childhood abuse to forgiveness. His story is chronicled in the 2018 movie, I can Only Imagine. The film is actually named after the group’s most well-known song. Millard wrote the powerful music about his father.

Another MercyMe song is “Grace Got You”. The lyrics state that we should keep hoping, singing, dancing, and so forth—even in dark times. God’s grace will help us through. Here is one of the main ideas from the song:
“There ain’t no storm that can change how this ends.”
My Conclusion

As numerous religious leaders say, “Do your best, and He’ll do the rest.” Enjoy life. Despite whatever problems come, everything’s in God’s hands. He’s planned for everything, even though life may seem chaotic.

How does grace manifest in your life?
