Balance: a Key to Success

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”-- 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (KJV) (italics added)

Life can get unbelievably complicated. We often juggle regular duties with unexpected, but critical, assignments. Family members, co-workers, pets, and friends all need our attention. When one problem gets solved, another pops up right behind it.
Sound familiar?

Let’s not forget the days when everything that can go wrong does go wrong.
That’s where balance comes in. It will keep us from focusing on only one area of life. Please enjoy these quotes from (I have added headings and subheadings):

What is balance?

Moderation in all things (Do nothing in excess.)
“In all aspects of our lives balance is key. Doing one thing too much can cause upset, like the old saying goes, everything in moderation is the secret!” – Catherine Pulsifer
“They are sick that surfeit with too much, as they that starve with nothing.” – William Shakespeare
“Live a life that is well balanced; don’t do things in excess.” – Daniel Smith
“Too much of one thing can end up creating stress; this is something that no one needs in their life. But living a life in balance can provide harmony and peace.” – Catherine Pulsifer
“Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony.” – Thomas Merton
Equal consideration given to the mind and the body
“It’s also important to give attention to your health and hygiene. Keep yourself healthy by exercising, eating a balanced diet, and sleeping right.” – Kathleen Rao, Self-Confidence
Why do we need balance?

Strengthen Us
“The calm and balanced mind is the strong and great mind; the hurried and agitated mind is the weak one.” – Wallace D. Wattles
Reduce Stress
“The response through relaxation puts a stop to the overwhelming state of eagerness and brings our body, along with mind into a state of balance.” – Mike Mitchell, Mindfulness: Mindfulness For Anxiety Relief
Open up New Areas of Life
“We need to introduce a little balance into your life. Part of this balance means not missing out on some of the marvels of life around you, the fun, some excitement, or other challenges in life.” – Catherine Pulsifer
Build Self-Confidence
“Understand that building self-confidence is all about striking a balance in your life. The right amount of confidence can help a great deal in achieving what you want.” – Angel Graff, Self Esteem: Self Confidence
Allow Inspiration from God
“There is no limit to what great and beautiful things the human being can create with the power of a balanced mind that is open to the inspiration of GOD.” – Paul Odafe Akpomukai, Life without Stress and Pain
Keep us Organized
“A good method of juggling different tasks is to always balance the short and long term tasks.” – Gretchen Pilar, Overcoming Laziness
My Conclusion

“I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring [it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”—1 Corinthians 9: 26-27 (KJV)

Are you in balance?
