Joy in the Journey, Guaranteed

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”- Psalm 118:24 (KJV)

Goals…Some are simple. Others may take decades to fulfill. It takes years to master a craft or an instrument:
  • From drawing stick figures to becoming a world-renown portrait painter
  • From carving simple toys to creating fine furniture

That’s okay. Parents enjoy watching their children in school concerts. Mom and Dad grin as their child’s first handcrafted wooden car wins a race.

Robert J. Hastings story, “The Station” is an extended analogy about finding joy in every moment. The passengers on the locomotive (us) only care about the final destination. In the meantime, they miss the small gifts, or blessings, of seeing beautiful scenery and playing children.

There’s no one station for everyone, since we all have different plans. Each person has their own “I’ll be happy when…” scenario.

Truthfully, some individuals may never reach their “dream” station.  It may not exist. Circumstances, or goals, can change, too.

Count Your Blessings

This traditional hymn is about how God is working in our lives--constantly. There are always small wonders on the way to our final victory. The video includes cute slides of animals, kids, and nature. These are illustrations of everyday sights that brighten our moods. Isn’t that a kind of “blessing”?

My Conclusion

Quotes taken from Goodreads

“Dance. Smile. Giggle. Marvel. TRUST. HOPE. LOVE. WISH. BELIEVE. Most of all, enjoy every moment of the journey, and appreciate where you are at this moment instead of always focusing on how far you have to go.”― Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass

“Everyone who is alive can find something to be grateful for if they look for it. If you are among the few that can’t find anything, start with the fact that you are ALIVE and continue from there. Counting ones blessings is a barometer of mental health.”― Gudjon Bergmann, The Seven Human Needs: A practical guide to finding harmony and balance in everyday life

“Count your blessings with gratitude no matter how small or big they are, and stop letting your lacks blindfold you from noticing how blessed that you are.”― Edmond Mbiaka

Are you joyful right now?
