"And
thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee,
and thou shalt take thy rest in safety."--Job 11:18 (KJV)
The
words “secure”, “rest”, and “safety” may seem far from our present reality. We
have many questions, but few answers. How can a person feel confident in the
future when society is in disorder? She can keep hoping.
The
last article here addressed
this topic. This writing will showcase different quotes and resources.
“High Hopes”
Frank
Sinatra (yes, THE Frank Sinatra), released this song in 1959. It won an Oscar
for best original song. Some people might wonder why this piece was chosen. The
lyrics and music suit the simplicity of children’s songs. In fact, in the
original video, below, Sinatra sings with a group of kids.
So
what’s the attraction? The clear message is as uplifting as they come:
- A tiny ant refuses to believe he can’t take down rubber trees. He demolishes a few of them. Logic says…Ants can only carry from 10 to 50 times their body weight.
- A ram (male sheep) want to butt a hole in a huge dam. He succeeds. Logic says…Two male bighorn sheep butting heads create a maximum of 800 pounds of force.
Moral
of the story: Logic isn’t always right. It isn’t always enough.
