Life is full
of ups and downs for most of us. Many of us also know what it’s like to be so
far down in a pit we don’t know how to dig ourselves out:
- Danielle is a young friend whose close family member suddenly passed away a few days ago.
- Clara is a lady I met online who recently found out her beloved mother has a terminal illness. She is not expected to live more than about another month.
- James is a friend who is half paralyzed.
- Brenda’s husband lost his job, and her son got into legal trouble, all within the past three months.
These are
all situations where the people involved could be excused for asking “Why me?”
or, “How am I ever going to move beyond this?”
How do we Move Forward?
There is a crucial commonality among these people: they know their true worth. They know they are of divine origin. They also know
that every setback is only temporary. Nobody can surmount crushing defeats such
as those mentioned above if they don’t accept their heavenly heritage.
This is how
I have survived a lifetime of trauma: I know that I am a child of God. If
I am his daughter, it follows that whatever happens to me, or around me, has a
purpose. It will work out for the best eventually. Malicious deeds happen because evil people exercise their own free
will. However, good wins out in the end.
“I Am a Child of God”
I am a child
of God,
And he has
sent me here,
Has given me
an earthly home
With parents
kind and dear.
Lead me,
guide me
Walk beside
me,
Help me find
the way.
Teach me all
that I must do
To live with
him someday.
