"The
Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace."--Exodus 14:14

Thanks for reading!
This article is especially for those
of us who are struggling with fear and anxiety right now.

What is a
pandemic? It’s a worldwide epidemic, such as the coronavirus. This recently
discovered illness is 30 times stronger than the common flu. The virus stays
alive on surfaces for 48 hours, instead of 12.
The entire world
is panicking and preparing safeguards. Some Italians can’t leave their homes.
The National Guard has been called out in New Rochelle, New York. Travel
restrictions are, well, more restrictive than ever. U.S. President Trump has
declared a national “state of emergency”, which unlocks the resources of the
federal government.
Are you anxious? Let’s ask the hundreds of
people who line up in grocery stores and big-box chains getting into fights
over the last rolls of toilet paper. (Does one customer really need six packages?)
Perhaps we
can blame the media, who rely on sensationalism to boost their ratings. In
reality, governments and businesses are taking every precaution to prevent the
spread of the illness. The death rate isn’t as high as predicted.
The antidote to the fear-mongering press is
the peace available through God. In this article, I’ll share scriptures and
quotes regarding God’s protection:
"As
for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to
all those that trust in him."--Psalm 18:30 (KJV)

"And
even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have
made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you."--Isaiah
46:4 (KJV)
Quotes from Christianquotes.com
"Beloved, I say, let your fears go, lest
they make you fainthearted. Stop inspiring fear in those around you and now
take your stand in faith. God has been good and He will continue to manifest
His goodness. Let us approach these days expecting to see the goodness of the
Lord manifest. Let us be strong and of good courage, for the Lord will fight
for us if we stand in faith."-- Francis Frangipane

"A God wise enough to create me and the
world I live in is wise enough to watch out for me."-- Philip Yancey

"If
the Lord be with us, we have no cause of fear. His eye is upon us, His arm over
us, His ear open to our prayer - His grace sufficient, His promise
unchangeable."--John Newton

"God's
angels often protect his servants from potential enemies."--Billy Graham

"Did
you never run for shelter in a storm, and find fruit which you expected not?
Did you never go to God for safeguard, driven by outward storms, and there find
unexpected fruit?"--John Owen

"Through
many dangers, toils, and snares,
I
have already come;
’Tis
grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And
grace will lead me home."
"The
Lord has promised good to me,
His
Word my hope secures;
He
will my Shield and Portion be,
As
long as life endures."--John Newton (the third and fourth verses of the
hymn, "Amazing Grace" )
My Conclusion
Humans are similar
to helpless lambs, or babies, in God’s eyes. That’s why He loves us and guides
us. Our creator doesn’t want us to buy into fear. Please enjoy this cute video of a dog “protecting”
his human baby sister from an “evil” vacuum.
Will you challenge the panic?

There is nothing to fear but panic' itself. The only concern I have had through this entire global panic has been for those who can't get help or food because of the thoughtless, selfish hoarders. You have often stated that worry doesn't solve anything - and you are bang on.
ReplyDeleteCarol Graham, thanks for your wonderful input! The stock-market crash of 1929 was started by fear/panic. I wish we would have learned more from history. Unfortunately, panic doesn't always bring out our best characteristics.
ReplyDeleteI proabaly say worrying doesn't solve anything so often because I'm still in the process of learning that important truth.
